DailyKos‘ senior political writer Joan McCarter saved us allĀ a lot of time. She wrote a post that pretty much encapsulated year 2014 of Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) that must be read. It will give a profound understanding of the realities. Any attempts to scrap the progress could only be explained asĀ unadulterated evil.It goes beyond ideology as Obamacare though passed by Democrats is the Republican alternative to what most Democrats really want, Medicare for all, a single payer healthcare system.
But before providing the link to her excellent piece, it is imperative that every person reading this post with or without insurance figure out if Obamacare can offer you a better deal for your family. One should not listen to the noise. One should check it out for themselves.
A small percentage of people will be paying more for insurance. People whose insurance was not worth the paper it was written on may pay more before subsidies but likely they will pay less after subsidies (e.g., insurance don’t pay when you need it most) . Many companies also passed more of their health insurance cost onto employees then lied and said it is because of Obamacare.
The vast majority of Americans will pay less. All Americans will have for the first time in history, insurance that cannot be rescinded, insurance that cannot be denied or cost more for pre-existing conditions, or insurance without a cap that could otherwise bankrupt you. Whether your insurance is from Obamacare, your employer, or directly purchased, the law mandates that insurance must be insurance and it must be understandable.

The year in Obamacare
by Joan McCarter – MON DEC 29, 2014 AT 09:30 AM CST
The first full year of Obamacare implementation was pretty much an unqualified success, despite all the best efforts of Republicans to defeat it. The ongoing theme of 2014 was Obamacare working really, really well, and Republicans continuing to beat the repeal drum, and massively, laughably failing at every attempt to come up with a replacement plan.
A review of 12 months of Obamacare news shows just how baked in the theme of politics completely at odds with policy is.
