There were so many things I didn’t know when I started this business. It was hard for me to realize I didn’t know it all but I tell you what I learned really quickly when things started coming at me left and right! I had to do a lot of technology research about stuff like ds1 and credit card processing, none of which I knew anything about when I first opened the shop. I had to brush up on my marketing skills, too, since I hadn’t had a class about that stuff since college! Things are sailing more smoothly now but it’s going to take a few more years before I feel totally confident about what I do for a living – it still feels weird to tell people I own my own business and really mean it – I mean, that sounds like a really adult thing to do! It’s nice being able to trust myself to learn and know what I’m doing at the end of the day and know that I’m the one responsible!
