While many of us are counting our blessings this holiday season, some in Washington are planning their attack.
As soon as the New Year rolls in, opponents want to repeal the new health care rights you just helped secure. Among our rights at risk:
- Insurance companies can’t limit needed medical care, especially for the seriously ill.
- Companies can’t deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.
- Help for struggling middle-class families to get the coverage they need.
- Tax breaks for small businesses so they can insure workers.
- Help for seniors to pay for needed medicines.
It’s important Americans know what’s at stake. Consumers Union will be educating your neighbors about these and other new health care rights – and fighting for them. We’ll also be working to keep your insurance premiums in check and to get the double-talk out of insurance forms, among other consumer issues.
Join us in our fight in the New Year by giving $25. Your gift is tax deductible!
Our nation is facing tough financial decisions in the year ahead, and the choices will be hard. But your family’s health, safety and finances shouldn’t get traded away for the special interests’ wish-lists!
Your donation will help us keep you involved in a range of consumer issues – and fight for you! In the health arena, we’re pushing your state officials to stop unjustified health insurance rate increases after years of uncontrolled hikes, and to make sure the bulk of your premium goes to health care, not CEO salaries and bloated bureacracies. We want to end the pharmaceutical industry’s secrecy about dangerous drugs, and halt deceptive TV drug ads.
In addition to attacks on health care, the banks are trying to disarm the new financial cop who will be protecting your credit cards and bank account. And even before a new online safety-database launches, special interests want to take away your right to find out which toys and products are dangerous.
Give your $25 tax-deductible gift so we can continue our work in the New Year!
We understand times are tough, so if you can’t donate, please forward this to others so they can join the fight. Thank you for all you do!
Sincerely,
DeAnn Friedholm
